So i went to ask them personally on why the Singaporeans did not accept on the implementation of Pay-As-You-Throw and they respond :
"one of the reason why many citizens do not agree with the implementation of the Pay-As-You-Throw scheme is because they aren't willing to pay more than they already have to. The way the scheme works, is you pay when you throw rubbish, you pay for what you throw, which benefits the low income families and people who tend to eat out. But for households who are bigger and cook at home for all 3 meals, they may not be willing to pay for how much waste they produce on a monthly basis. There is no guaranty that all citizens will agree with it, but, I think with time, we will all get used to it. Because this way, we will be more mindful of the amount of waste we product, and would even think twice before buying disposable items."
Which is so thoughtful of them to think it that way. We cannot simply change the way Singapore have lived in for years. This implementation would take time for the citizens of Singapore. What i think of is that, the government maybe should organize more event regarding on how to waste less. The event should be held around the neighborhood so that the citizens around the neighborhood can simply join in. Or they should make it compulsory for them to attend those event.
The way i waste less is by buying food not more that what i can eat. If i cannot finish the dish, i will keep it in the fridge so the next day i can just re-heat it and eat it. And i also do recycling at home too. :)
